I'm not sure what you mean by a candida overgrowth - and it sounds like you haven't actually been diagnosed with one. If you have a fungus (that's what candida is, right?) in your digestive tract, I would think you need to get that formally diagnosed, treated, and cleared up before you try anything else.

If you want to deal with the IBS, then you need to read about Heather's EFI Diet. You can do that out on the Website (just click on "Home" to the left to get started) or you can read Heather's book, "The First Year - IBS". If you don't want to buy the book, your library probably has it. You should also read ALL the sticky posts (the ones with the little push-pin icons) at the top of the Diet Board posts. They'll explain a lot.

I don't understand what you're saying about dehydration with vitamins or minerals. And not understanding that - or knowing much if anything about candida - is why I did not reply to your post even though demographically you're right up my alley (I'm 52 and IBS-D). As one of the other posters says, without basic information about what you're doing now it's hard to respond. A lot of posters just wander in thinking this is a general IBS Board, so we need really basic information like "Are you on Heather's EFI Diet?" "Are you taking an SFS?" and so on. And if you're going to talk about conditions that are not related to IBS - like intestinal candida and dehydration from vitamins and minerals - we really need more information to even begin to make intelligent suggestions.

Two more pieces of advice since I'm on a roll here. First, as someone else said, bumping is an excellent way to emphasize that you want a reply. Give it 24 hours - as you did - then just put "Bump -nt-" in the subject line of a reply. If you want, you can expand a little on that with "Bump. Please help -nt-". Second, your original subject line was "What a mess". I can certainly sympathize with your feeling that way - I've felt that way a time or two myself - but given the volume of posts a lot of people only read ones they can relate to or help with. So the more focused you can be in your subject line, the more responses you're likely to get. (Although I have to say the subject line in your second post was quite effective.)

I hope some of this helps. The EFI Diet has worked like a charm for me and I hope it works as well for you. I'll be glad to provide any help I can in that regard. Oh, and welcome to the Boards.
