I stumbled across the SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) today and wondered if it really helps to delete carbs from one's diet since many with IBS are reactive to disaccharides (sugars made up of TWO molecules)...examples are Sucrose (table sugar), Lactose (milk sugar) and Maltose (found in breads), as these sugars are virtually found in everything. I noticed I'm reactive to sugar, lactose and too many carbs. I'm wondering what everyone thinks about this. Could we be helped by eliminating carbs which metabolize into sugar and by sugars altogether? All feedback would be greatly appreciated. This could be something, AND would the South Beach diet, which is similar be helpful???
