You have mis-understood the findings. It is not that 78% of IBS patients have this problem. It was 78% of the 202 were determined to have this problem. This study you are referring to was flawed with the way the sampling population was choosen. Not to say 78% isn't a strong argument, but it shouldn't be taken at face value.
