Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted for a long time now as I have been stable. Since last July, I have had 4 breakages in my feet - toes and little bones. These have been very hard to heal. A spiral fracture has taken 6 months and has finally healed with a deformity.

I am menopausal so my doctor organised a bone scan which showed that although I don't have osteoporosis, I do have osteopenia. This means that my bone density is less than it should be and can't be recovered.

I have since been subjected to a number of tests for various conditions which can contribute to osteopenia, but all have come back negative. Therefore, we can only put this down to malabsorbtion from the IBS (d).

If you are at the menopause stage of your life and have had IBS (d) for some time, it may well be worth your while to have a bone scan, rather than finding out the hard way.
