on the fiberchoice bottle, it says not to exceed 6 tablets (12g sf) a day. i wrote them an email explaining that for ibs i want to take more, and wondering where the limit comes from. i got the following in response. it sounds like it'd be safe to take a little more, wouldn't it?

Dear Ms. Green, Thank you for contacting us regarding information on the proper dosage amount for FiberChoiceŽ fiber supplements. According to the American Dietetic Association, the average person should consume about 25 - 30 grams of dietary fiber a day. Most Americans get only 40-60% of the daily fiber they need for a healthy diet - the direct result of not eating enough raw vegetables, fruits and whole grains. FiberChoice fiber supplement is a dietary supplement designed to be used in addition to your regular diet and to help you get more fiber. Two FiberChoice tablets (a typical adult dosage) contain 4 grams of soluble dietary fiber - approximately 16 % of your recommended daily requirement. Although our recommended maximum dosage of 6 tablets would provide 12 grams of dietary fiber we recommend consumers use our product as a supplement, not a replacement for daily fiber intake. CNS strives to provide quality products and service that give you, the consumer, the greatest satisfaction possible. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact our Consumer Satisfaction Department at 1-877-553-4237. Sincerely,
Stacey, Consumer Satisfaction Specialist
