Hi group,
After getting out of the hospital with out health insurance in 2002,(130 lbs) and bieng broke physicaly from 16 years of suffering. I was finally diagnosed with IBS 2006.(175lbs) In the hospital the doctor thought maybe I had crohn's After that episode in 2002.I was as good as dead when I was in the ER then. Since I didnt have health insurance and couldnt hold a steady job I didnt see a doctor afer that I did the self help method wich is what I did for the last 16 years basically and really searching hard for crohns help afer 2002 . I then spent the last 4 years intensively and exstensivly trying loads of supplements/exercises trial and error mainly. Mostly all error =) Also tried alot of things by instinct prior to 2002 as it became worse. *One funy note is that after learning hatha yoga from a video called yoga for energy, I started doing on my own time later in life the very poses that are recomended on this website! to cool. Intuition is a beautiful thing. Yet another coincidence I was like a fly to sticky papper with meditation. Prior to 2002. Looking back,I was in good shape agianst IBS then and was a health eating vegetarian at my normal 185. I avoided stress like the plague/drank lots of peppermint tea and chamomile. It felt like what I needed. It kept me in good shape for a couple of years But I didnt stay with that life style/therapy prior to bieng diagnosed with IBS or the hopspital. Life was going wrong in all options, stress, poor diet. But I did go for it all agian after 2002, but lost it in my searches for the cure for what I thought was crohn's. Later I found the SCD diet wich is where I really started to improve.
So with some progress made on SCD diet, thinking I had crohn's or UC from the basic synopsis by the Hospital Doc and expiermentation with things that didnt help cronnies didnt help me. Polysacherides etc etc. Alot of similarities between my IBS and IBD. I was shocked with my colonoscopy! Funny thing was that SCD really worked well when i got rid of dairy and fat. !But! I didnt maintan it with out dairy or fat no matter how painful atleast the D had stopped and most of the pain. It just seemed like there was nothing to eat on SCD with out those things. I hoped vainly that in time I would be able to eat a balanced SCD and even then I was getting sick of dieting.
When I found this page i was very amazed to see that the very trigger foods where the ones I have intuitvly known for a long time where making my life hell. I kept telling people on SCD chat boards dairy screws me,as you already know. No matter what or how it is made/fermented 24 hours 36 etc etc, and all the nuts/honey. They where baffeled and so was everyone else. Friends, family, they thought I was mad! So did I, i felt like i was in Social Siberia. A crazy SCD diet helps?! I know as well as u what a torture this bugger can be.
Here i am just diagnosed and able to hold a job after gaining some weight/srength/sanity/progress from SCD and moderate Coconut Oil. Here I am fresh of the boat, new to the Group . Looking for help and would like to get some feedback on how well any IBS-D groupies have done so far on the diet, also does it improve things in the long run? Or do things improve? If you wish to know what I have tried let me know. So its time to see what I can do know that I atleast know what Im dealing with. Its about time =)
Im open ears.
Cheers.
