I once read a post where someone said they were eating yeast free to help their IBS but that was because the doc also said he or she also had a yeast overgrowth in his/her digestive system/tract. I know that when I was on antibiotics my IBS flared up, I got pretty bad and painful D, and a vaginal yeast infection. My doc said it would help to cut out yeast and simple sugars for a bit because they feed the yeast, causing them to reproduce in my digestive system create more IBS problems. Maybe you were thinking of something like that? My doc also suggested I start a probiotic so that the healthy bacteria could begin out numbering the bad bacteria. I have to say though, I don't feel good when I don't include bread in my diet. I eat fresh french bread as often as I feel like, which is everyday, because it is so calming and filling for my tummy. I don't think the yeast should be a problem at all unless you and your doc think you have a bad overgrowth problem. I take primal defense, which I know you've tried and didn't like, but it's been almost 2 months now and I've been at 3 a day for a few weeks now and found that it really helps (even though there was definitely some pain and bloating until my body adjusted). Anyway, hope this info helped a little.
