And it sounds like you may be sensitive to fructose, the sugar found in fruits, and any prepared foods with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Sensitivity to fructose is something that can happen with IBS.

Granulated sugar (and brown sugar) are sucrose, which the body breaks down into glucose and fructose. Honey is fructose, sucrose, and glucose. You may want to do some research on your own of fructose levels in various foods to adapt your diet.
