Glad you are feeling better and that you found this board. It's most helpful!! I think you may get varied answers to your question. Mine is that it is unlikely that you will be able to add red meat and dairy back in to your diet. Some people can "cheat" and eat some trigger food occasionally and do okay. Personally, I can eat lean red meats with no problem, but I NEVER touch dairy - it kills me everytime. Well, almost..I can eat yogurt (including frozen!) without any problem most of the time. I have heard of people working their way out of IBS with yoga, meditation, hypnosis, etc. stress-relieving methods. I have done Mike Maloney's hypnosis recordings for IBS and found them very helpful. But this did not eliminate the IBS, just made it more manageable. I can eat more than I used to of some foods. I definitely can "cheat" during low stress times more than high stress. I would definitely caution that while you are getting your system calmed down with the IBS diet, you stick with it closely. Try not to eat trigger foods at all until you've been stable for a few months. Best wishes for continued improvement!!
