Hi Laura, That pain is coming from your sigmoid colon.If that
pain subsides, it's definitely not from your kidney, so you
need not worry about your kidney. This pain almost always
occurs with people who have a "redundant sigmoid colon",that's
what is meant by a "torqued colon". I have a relatively sensa-
tive sigmoid colon, but it's not redundant. Even so, I had big
problems with a lot of SFS, and my new GI doc at home told
me to stop the SFS, and just do up to two doses of Miralax
per day. That seems to be working so far. Also, do anything
you need to in order not to have to strain all the time.
That has serious consequences which I found out too late.
It will cause what's called,"pelvic floor descent".Fortu-
nately mine's not too bad. However, it's best to avoid it
alltogether. Also, Miralax will help in reducing your
straining. -Bob
