Surgery and IBS- How not to have an attack!

Hey everyone, I am IBS-D and have been stable since Nov 30th. I am having surgery and the fear of me having an attack is much worse than the fear of the surgery. It is a week away and I am already stressing about it. To put your body under that much stress with surgery is just a receipe for a attack. I am having a large mass removed from my under arm and the pain and recovery is what I fear will set the IBS off. I am not worried if it is cancer or not, that is something I can not control at this point but maybe I can do something about the very unwelcome vistor IBS coming to see me. Any advice and anyone who has had surgery and IBS? Thanks, Lisa
