If it helps any, my son had the scope thing and said it wasn't bad at all. He also had bad reflux and after the scope found that he had quite a bit of damage to his esophagus. The doc put him on Prilosec and now he's fine.
In my opinion, you should at least try the new med but be sure and take with food. Would it help to take an Imodium to help with the "D"? I don't think you should just forget about this problem because it could be causing some damage to your throat.
