I believe that they give you something to drink and do a test on your stomache and duodenum, the part of your small intestine near your liver. Maybe a breath test or a scan of some kind. So you probably have to fast so that your stomache is empty. But I'm not really sure cuz I can't recall what I read about it, but it was online. I haven't done the test yet. Though I also have the B12 deficiency and have been taking sublingual (melt under the tongue) B12 pills every day, and we are waiting to see if that helps (my gastro and I).
