Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Re: 10 year old son and IBS

I would just like to let you know you aren't alone.

I have had IBS since age 5. I also had major anxiety (still do...but with the help of therapy and meds I'm thriving!)

I would just like to be a support for you by letting you know you aren't alone. I think you're a super parent trying to help your child by getting yourself support here and by getting info. for your son. Good for you!!!! *hugs*

I def. think the hypno tapes AND Heather's Diet sound like a great idea!! Do you happen to know (it's perfectly ok if you don't!), if the IBS is causing your son anxiety about school or do you feel that he has anxiety that is connected with yet seperate from his IBS?

If you feel his anxiety is also coming from within him I would encourage you to get the hypno tapes. If they are not helpful perhaps a GOOD therpaist and psychiatrist can help.

Whatever you do...I'm proud of you for coming here and educating yourself to help your son! Way to go mom!!!

P.S. One more thing. I used to get scared and panic when I had to do something fun. I thought no one liked me. But once I got to the party, I was fine. If only I had seen a competent doctor I wouldn't have had to suffer the fisrt 26 years of my life. Your son is not alone!
