Before I knew I had IBS I had slowly stopped eating lots of veggies that I knew would bother me. Many were leafy greens like spinach. Having neglected a whole range of veggies, I began to get calcium deposits on my hands and spine. At 25 this really freaked me out. My doc had no idea what these bumps were and thought it would be best to cut open my hand to take a look at them. I declined. I work with my hands. So I called up a friend who is a chinese herbalist. I was sceptical but didn't know who else to talk to. After a long discussion over the phone (yup, he didn't even see me in person), he sent me a magnesium supplement and discussed the problems in my diet. That was 2 years ago and I haven't had a painful calcium deposit since. In fact, I get enough magnesium in my diet and multi vitamin that I no longer take the magnesum supplement.
