Hi Lucrece,

The lactose in bc pills is very minute. I think they say you'd have to take 100 pills at one time to make up the amount of lactose in 1 cup of milk. So unless you're very very, very ultra sensitive to lactose, I think you'll be okay there. As for the hormones, it may or may not irritate your condition. Myself, I take a probiotic so that helps keep my tummy in check.
Although our advice on this board may help you, I think you should discuss this matter with your doctor since he or she may be more knowledgeable about it all and knows your present condition.
The other barrier methods, although I have never tried them, should not bother your IBS; however, their contraceptive effectiveness is low.
I was on a website the other day that gave thorough explanations of all bc methods. If I find it, I'll post it for you.
