Oh yeah! When hubby comes into the kitchen and offers his help, I yell, "get outta my kitchen!" This morning he made the mistake of offering some help. I said, "OMG, I forgot to buy cheesecloth! What will I tie my spices in for my mulled cider!?" He grabbed his keys and drove into town -- mostly to get away from me -- but also to stop at the store to pick up the cheesecloth. He's a gem and deserves better then me!
Yes, you're right; I never inspect how clean my friends' homes are. In fact, the dirtier, the more comfortable I feel. I don't think it has anything to do with expectations from others, it's expectations from ourselves. We expect more from ourselves for some stupid reason, and no matter what we do, it's not good enough to satisfy ourselves.
Virginia had us over for dinner a month ago, and her dessert was a total flop; also, the salmon wasn't totally done, so she had to put it back in the oven. I didn't care; it didn't bother me a bit. But God forbid my mousse comes out blah, OMG! (Not to worry -- I have a backup; I bought some Soy Dream Mocha Fudge, just in case, and my home-made butter cookies that I made the other day are terrific.)
It's SOOOO no wonder we have IBS! Oy.
