I just read the article and I believe they are referring to people with occasional constipation, not people w/IBS-C. There is a huge difference. One of the first gastros I saw told me to take Senekot(which is Senna)every night. I was on it for about 21/2 years. It works, if I took 2 before bed, I would have a BM the next morning. If I didn't take it, I would not have a BM. It causes terrible cramping (like we need more!) and leaves you feeling sick to your stomach after you have had a BM. Laxatives are not good for people with IBS - plain and simple. If laxatives weren't addictive or dangerous we would have a cure for IBS-C'ers.
