Hi Cyndy, I don't think it's making my C worse. My C is caused
spasming, not slow colonic inertia. I think the stool moves
along fine until hits the narrow hole due to the sigmoid
colon spasming down to a small diameter. My stools are never
larger than 3/4 inches in diameter. I go every day, but I
always have to strain, and it's not a lot of fun. I often
have to do 'the twist' to get the BM's going. Bentyl is
the 4th(Donnatol, Robinul, and Levsin before) anti-spas
that I've been on, and it hasn't been real effective
in terms of colon spasms either.
Yes, I've tried Heather's peppermint pills, they didn't
seem to make much of a difference, but then again they
never got past my stomach before dissolving, and my GI
doc recommended not taking them because I have a hiatal
hernia and GERD's. I haven't tried stopping the Bentyl,
but maybe it's worth a try. Heck, anything's worth a try
at this point. -Bob
