IBS-C Hi Jane, I'm taking Bentyl right now too. They may not have it on the instructions, but you have to take it at least a half hour, preferably one hour before eating, otherwise food will prevent it's absorbtion and it won't be effective. If you have the 20mg pills, you can take two of those at once if your cramps are really bad.
