The Sahara brand Casey mentinoed I think MAY have milk, it DOES have alot of additives, I bought it once and and didn't care much for it, I think it is made by the same brand as Thomas English Muffins.
My pitas are FANTASTIC, but I can only get them at one grocery store (Pathmark), Domas or something is the brand...? They are only like fifty cents a pack.
BUT the reason I think they stock them there, along with other odd things like naan and LOTS and LOTS of hispanic and 'soul food' type things, is because that grocery store is located in a predominatly poor and multicultural town, when I go to the Acmes around the white middle class towns, it is harder to find that stuff. I have found that the next nearest chain of one grocery store from the next can vary ALOT in selection by the town it is in, and what people live in that area. Makes sense, doesn't it? If there are Indian Markets or something by you you may also have more luck, if you think there aren't any look in your phone book, some of them are so tiny and hidden and family run and you might not know they are there! Trader Joes has pita bread, but I never bought it or checked it out cause I get such a good deal already.
Its all about finding out what foods are best to get at what places... I frequent like five grocery stores (some more than others), cause no grocery store has EVERYTHIng that I need.
And it used to frustrate me when i was little when my Mom had to go to TWO grocery stores!
Good luck on your pita hunt!
