that's what it seems like, but this is just my own deductions, no definitive answer.

even if there's no SF in those foods, though, just starch, they're still good, safe foods for us. they still work as buffers, making iffy foods less irritating to our systems. what they don't do, if there's no SF, is have the regulating effect that SF has, as heather describes how SF counteracts C and D.

i still wish there were a definitive answer. i have a vague understanding of this stuff, but i'm nowhere near sure.
