I didn't read this whole thread, but even though you live in NOrth jersey, you should have a Shop Rite around, right? That is my favorite grocery store... and thier English Muffins contain no dairy, same thing with thier sliced bread, hamburger rolls, and hotdog buns (I am PRETTY sure about the sliced bread, I don't really use it at all, so you need to double check). Thomas Muffins and WOnder Bread, all the name brands seem to ALWAYS have dairy. Pathmark name brand (don't know if htey are up north) I believe doesn't have dairy either (never bought english muffins from there). I have never bought bread from Acme. I go to alot of grocery stores!
If you go to Trader Joes they have French and Sourdough bread that doesn't contain dairy, either. Never checked out thier English Muffins.
Whole Foods might have something too, i think they sometime have vegan baked goods, but never bought that kinda stuff from there, I try to put myself on a strict $$$ limit there or I would walk away with like thousands in groceries, haha.

Good luck!
