In May I took Heather"s book from the library and started the diet June 1 on the very, very safe foods. After 40 years of severe constipation, many different diets but always having a very HIGH FIBRE DIET, within in 3 days life was already different. The extreme bloat from a highly inflamed gut was reduced 6" and the decrease in belching and flatulence was unbelievable.
Also suffering GORD I could not speak without belching. The doctor has tried me on many medications but I always have either allergic reactions or intolerable side effects! Is this noticed with others?
Even tho' I have toned things down so much, I find myself regularly missing the hard and crunchy foods, ie nuts and seeds.
I was already lactose intolerant and had found many years ago that any dairy food hurt but did not understand why. Yes I have had many times when water also triggered severe cramps. Until Heather"s book I was beginning to think I was getting intolerant of all food. I would also up the insoluble fibre thinking I was not eating enough!!!!???
I have been using a number of the recipes, just converting to gluten free. And they are delicious. However there seems to be a lot of sugar used, even in Heather's recipes, and sugar triggers other problems for me, so I try and halve them. Do others suffer with sugar who are not diabetic?
Just to add to the list of my problems ( I often forget what I do have???) fibro and Rosacea and dermatitis. I think I wiil Leave it at that or this will sound like a sob story and it is not meant to be.
