I have a question about over the counter medications, like Pepto-Bismol and Immodium.

I'm not sure if anyone can answer this or if I can be directed to where I might found out. I guess I mainly interested in the "science" of it (if there is a science that can be understood)

What exactly are they doing to "slow/control" symptoms of D?

Do they actually "heal" or rectify a problem?
Or do they just "postpone" or "delay" the problem?

thanks.
