Hypothyroidism (too little thyroid hormone) can cause C. Hyperthyroidism (too much)can cause D. I have an autoimmune disease that causes me to be primarily hypothyroid, but I have also had spikes at times where I was hyperthyroid. Prior to being dxd, I was told I had IBS. I probably do have mild IBS, but when my thyroid levels are in check I have no problems. I have a friend who had chronic D for seven years and was dxd with IBS. She actually had Graves disease- the autoimmune disease characterized by too much thyroid hormone.
