I can't tolerate vitamins of any kind. They all result in IBS attacks for me.
I head off colds by getting plenty of rest, taking a day off work if necessary (at the outset rather than waiting for the cold to set in) and making a batch of homemade chicken soup, which includes fresh organic parsley, carrots, celery, potatoes, white rice and whatever else I can tolerate.
I find everyone is always sick at my office and their colds last for ages. My approach results in me rarely ever being sick and, when I am, I usually recover in record time.
I survived all the office and public transit colds and flus last winter without a single cold myself. In fact, the last time I had a cold was in January 2004! I think that's pretty good considering I can't eat the full range of foods a non-IBS person can. In fact, sometimes I wonder if having IBS makes me healthier than other people because I am forced to stay away from junk food and eat healthy in order to control my IBS.
