Make sure your vitamin doesn't have any artificial sweetners, like malitol or something like that in it. I take CVS brand Women's multivitamin once a day, and do fine.

What's wrong with vitamin C pills? Unless they have not IBS-friendly ingredients, they should be fine. And I'm sure you can find some that don't have artificial sweetners in them. But for me, for a cold, I take 12-hour store brand decongestant, drink lots of water, and eat soup made from veggie broth, pasta, and maybe some frozen carrots or peas thrown in.
