I'll agree with porridge, if I feel acidy, it always helps, but make it stodgy, not runny, with no sugar. If you need something to make it taste better, try cinnamon (however you spell it). Avoid anything sugary, (as you say, fruit) will make it worse and yeast also will too - so maybe the bread isn't such a good idea?!
