I understand the anxiety you have gone through prior to diagnosis. I have major problems with pain a bloating also. Popcorn is bad news for IBS so no the symptoms it generated are not pyschosomatic. Can I suggest you buy a book called "Friendly Food" published by Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Allergy Unit. It is available on request from most book stores. You will find it invaluable in avoiding problem foods. The other suggestion is to start on a soluble fibre called "Benefibre". It is available in most Chemists in Oz.
