Amitryptaline is a tri-cyclic AD...it slows down the colon. I've taken it for 2 years at bedtime. It still makes me groggy in the morning(I've never been a morning person) I can tell that it improves my IBS, but it's definitely not a "cure". I find I have to follow all of Heather's advice. If I have to pick a favorite, I'd say Acacia has helped me the most. I've found it great for pain and to ward off a potential attack. What has helped you the most? Terri
