My gastro doc prescribed it for me because he said that it helped block the "seizure activity" taht we call "cramps" in the gut. It does help me, but I have noticed my hair thinning a bit. That is really the only side effect I have found, that and I get a bit sleepy. How much and how often do you take it. I am supposed to take .5mg 3 times a day.
