just my personal thoughts but i don't think it can. ibs is a valid diagnosis only after others have been ruled out. to see chrons, colitis, blockages, or other problems they need to examine the colon. are you afraid of a colonoscopy? they really aren't that bad. the preparation is the worst part. i was totally knocked out during mine so all the "emmbarassing stuff" i don't know about i know they have a virtual colonoscopy now, but i don't know if it can be used for ibs.
