Hey! Kristin, (and anyone who reads) I could have written your post *exactly* 6 months ago, and probably did post the exact same question here!. I could go into a lot of details, but will try to keep it short.. #1,, even though test after test showed nothing for 2 1/2 yrs last Fall I finally started testing positive for having an auto immune disease that affects my intestines, getting treated has done wonders.. *also* after 2 1/2 years of testing normal, my TSH has tripled in the last 6 weeks. The ER Dr (I went in for room spins, heart skipping beats and feeling dizzy when I lay down) said my thyroid has been running itself ragged the last few years, sputtering out what it can making me test in the normal range, and most likely finally died, explaining my rapid water weight gain, exhaustion, confusion, etc in the last few months, this is probably also related to an auto immune condition of my body attacking my thyroid.. So I just want to say that your body can have the symptoms years ahead of the blood showing signs. I have found that using miralax several times day (esp after eating), eating mostly fruits like berries and melons (not hard like apples)eating gluten free, not using fiber and avoiding insoluable fibrous foods have been the best thing *for me* If you don't respond very well to Heather's diet, I'd say that's a good signal that you may not ONLY have IBS, so keep trucking til you find a dr to help you.....And don't freak out because none of what is going on with me is deadly, it's all manageable.
