can be confusing! There is a lot of activity on this board, so if you don't check back often, your posts can be many "pages" back. It's easy to lose them!!
Yes, IBS isn't much fun. All of us can empathize! Sounds like you're doing a lot of the right things. One of the things that keeps IBS "interesting" is you can go along feeling great, and then for no apparent reason, you get zapped. Are you keeping a food diary? Following Heather's diet? I've found that sometimes the smallest transgressions can have a big impact...especially when I'm mostly eating soluble fiber foods. My guess is that food is more quickly absorbed into my intestines when I'm just eating soluble fiber, so one bite of "bad" food is all I need to have my insides rebel. 
Like you I've had IBS for many years. You're lucky to have a doctor that you like. I'm extremely reticent to talk to doctors about IBS...I don't want a bunch of invasive tests, and I don't want drugs. This website is by far the best thing I've found.
