Alright, I've been taking Pamine since December 23. At first, my stools were really solid. I was supposed to take five small, round pills each day but my throat and eyes got too dry so I reduced it to four and then three, but I was doing great when I just took three.
A few weeks ago, I got the prescription refilled. The
pills changed from small, round pills to larger football-shaped pills. I'm supposed to take two and one half of those pills each day (instead of five). Well, I started out taking three or four halves (1.5 to 2 whole pills total), but my stools started getting less and less solid, so started taking the suggested about of five halves each day.
I've had three days (since I started taking the pills altogether) that I've had some very non-solid stools. I didn't worry after the first two because they were several weeks apart and I was fine the rest of the time. However, I kind of panicked today because my stools have been getting increasingly less solid lately. They haven't been as solid as they were when I was taking the smaller, round pills (even though I was only taking 3/5 of what I'm taking now).
I'm worried that my body is getting used to the pills and I'll have to up the dosage or try something different.
Has anyone else taken medication for their IBS and had a problem like this? Do you only have occasional flare-ups or does the medicine just stop working sometimes? Is what I'm experiencing normal?
