I haven't tried it, but it appears to be a simple bulk-forming fiber supplement like many others on the market. I don't see why you can't take Prodiem instead of Metamucil. Different brands and fibers work different on everyone. If you're not happy with Metamucil, I'd give the Prodiem a try. Right now, I'm trying Benefiber because I like the fact that it dissolves.
