You know,this is the WORST part of the condition,it brings me to tears knowing that I can't celebrate like everyone else without suffering for at least a week.This illness will now darken every holiday of my life from now until they have effective medical treatments-which at the current rate of research,will probably be just as I'm dying of cancer in my 60's.I feel for Digby and all the other IBSers suffering with that horrible Christmas choice of having a little joy you can remember and being willing to pay the price later-or eating plain toast while everyone else gorges.I personally choose the former unless there's no choice but to stay well.This year,I have a week and half to kill with no serious commitments,so I fully plan on going to hell in a handbasket and paying the price later.Got my peppermint oil tablets,fennel tea,Corn Chex,Cheerios,bananas and a good clean bathroom standing by for the next 2 weeks.And sedative pills if it gets uncontrollable.Bring it on.My 2nd top New's Year's Resolution:By next Christmas to have mastered the recipes in both Heather's book and posted at the other board sufficiently to be able to have a wonderful holiday with all delicious IBS safe food!And that should be the goal of ALL of us-Heather's diet and these recipes are living proof of necessity being the mother of invention and that there is no reason to have to live on toast and tea for the rest of our lives.Such thinking results from stubborness and a childish refusal to accept change and nothing more.
