i'm in houston, too. it's really hellacious for ibs, and my very irish skin which burns and overheats.

i got a new car last november and i had a remote start put on it, made by viper. so a few minutes before i leave somewhere i hit the button and the car automatically starts and the AC gets cranking. it really helps keep me cool in the summers. you jsut thave to make sure to put the AC on blast before you get out of your car. they cost around $280, which is nothing compared to hot cars or cold cars in the winter.

when i stop at multiple grocery stores i also turn the car on while i'm inside to keep the cool things cool. you don't have to worry about prople stealing the car since you have to have the key in the ignition before you go forward or in reverse. if someone does break in, they put their foot on the break and the car dies. it's funny how often people track me down in stores saying i left my car running.. of course they don't bother to see the keys are in the ignition and i started the car "magically" when i got out
