Endoscopy update (False negative H. Pylori blood tests.)       06/26/03 10:53 AM Edit Reply Quote Kandee Reged: 05/22/03 Posts: 3206 Loc: USA, Southern California I understand that if you are on anti-acids AT ALL prior to the H. Pylori blood test, it will come back a false negative. You need to be off all OTC and prescription anti-acids for weeks before taking the H. Pylori blood test to get correct results. (Can't remember now the exact number of weeks you need to wait after discontinuing them but it is a different waiting period for different classes of anti-acids.) Ask your gastro about this as this might have been what happened to you....or...do a web search on "false negative H. Pylori tests".
