She cannot absorb Phosphorous, a mineral that binds with calcium to form hard bones and teeth. For those that don't know of this rare disorder, phosphorous is in just about everything you eat. Lots in junk food and sodas as well as meat. The only way to not get enough of it would be to not eat much which I didn't. She will have very soft bones that will bend and teeth that will not hold up. She may end up being short and taking meds 6 times a day for the rest of her life and lab work at least once a month. But it does not shorten a persons life. My daughter has it but had a lot of friends, is very pretty recieved her masters degree and is doing fine.
