Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Re: Orange Juice & Candy & anything else?!!

Her doctor put her on this juice box like drink called Juice + Fiber. He told her to drink one a day and stay off all other juices. Well, she had her first 8 ounces (the amount of the box) the next day - in intervals but most of it at night and she had "the runs" ALL night long and part of the next day . It was horrible! I don't understand because I thought that fiber was needed for people that are constipated, not with diarrhea. But after reading on this board I looked at the box and it said "10 grams of soluble fiber" which is the good kind, right?

But anyway..it was too much for her. So doc said to give it to her in the morning so she isn't up at night, but hello - she has school! I had her down to 1 1/2 ozs in the am and another ounce in the afternoon - but to be honest, I still think it made things worse and I got so sick of seeing her in pain that I took her off of it. I don't know if this was right, I am waiting for doctor to call back with the results of her upper gi (even though the doc there said she was fine).

She has always liked chocolate milk and she has done fine with lactaid milk for the past couple of years with Trader Joes organic chocolate syrup - there is no hfcs in it. I have since last week taken that away too because I really had to limit her diet but am thinking of introcing it again to see how she does. Poor thing doesn't want to drink water 24/7 - she only likes cranberrry juice with oj in it, so there goes that one! uugghhh!
