Hi Barb. Ham and other red meats also contain proteins that can be a trigger for IBS, so it's not just the fat that's at stake. It's best to treat it like any other trigger (i.e. dairy) and avoid it as much as possible. With that said, I do tolerate a tiny amount of lean ham in a sandwich, but I only sneak it about once every couple months. I'd say it would be okay to do as an occassional treat with lots of soluble fiber, but for the most part I'd stick to turkey. They do make "turkey ham" that is supposed to be pretty good!
