Keep in mind the texture -- if the margarine is going to be melted anyway, it usually doesn't matter, but in some recipes (usually cookies and doughs), the margarine needs to be somewhat firm and a liquid (oil) may not yield favorable results.

Also, a tablespoon of oil has 14g fat and margarine is usually a little less (11-12g fat), which could possibly make somewhat of a difference in a recipe.
