I know that rutabaga sure adds a "spicey" flavor to soup and stew. I was amazed the first time a college roomate threw some in her beef stew. Very distinctive and pleasant. I chopped up the extra turnip, potatos and rutabaga and froze them. I'm thinking they might be really good on a cold day cooked and mashed up like mash potatos.
