If you can get shrimp/prawns there, that's great. Actually, the heads are great for making stock. I save shrimp/prawn shells (it's hard to find shrimp with their heads ON here) in a zip bag in the freezer til I get a bagfull and then cook them with water, onion, lemon, celery, s/p for a few hours, strain it, and put it in Glad containers (2 c ea) in the freezer. Whenever I make a shrimp creole, etc., I have shrimp stock and don't have to use water (yukky!). Get your hubby to rip off their heads and feet. Actually, it's not so bad because they're already dead. It's not like you're the executioner--somebody already did that for you. I used to feel that way about raw chicken, but now it's just second nature.
Have you checked thru the recipes already posted to see if you can make any? So, I guess you can't get tomatillos or can chilies, right?
