Well...I finally have time to sit down, make a list of things I have access to in Japan thereby taking advantage of your previous offer Sharon. I think it may be safe to say that I just might be your greatest challenge to date!
I may have to add to it from time to time if I find stuff in other supermarkets. Now - if you Sharon, or anyone else can come up with recipes that can aid this limited list - THANK GOODNESS!
I have a 2 burner stove, a microwave that has an oven built into it, a large george foreman grill, a rice cooker and a toaster oven.
I can access almost all spices, flour, baking powder and soda, eggs, sugar (white and brown), most veggies (except green pepper, zucchini) and fruit (but fresh fruit is very expensive)
We eat mostly chicken and a bit beef.
I can get most regular dairy products - no soy anything. But we tend to avoid them.
I'm almost out of Pam cooking spray so once that's gone - I'm back to oil or margarine.
I can get soda crackers, white bread, french bread, english muffins, small buns.
I can get most pastas, canned tomatoes (diced or whole), tomato paste, sauce
I can get canned fruits, canned tuna (haven't had it in years!), canned mushrooms
I'll have to look to see if I can find cocoa powder.
I can get frozen mixed veggies, frozen peas, corn, etc
I can get cartons of orange, apple, pineapple juice
Now for the allergies: -any fermented bean product (miso, et al) -eggplant -fish (I like shrimp/prawns but here they come with their heads and limbs and the last thing I want to do is tend to that - so I avoid them and other forms of seafood. Only meat comes headless and limbless) -horseradish -spinach -avacodo -brussel sprouts -any mushroom besides regular white ones
-> I think that's about it (for now). I may have left out some obvious things - please ask me and I'll be able to say yeah or neah.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give!!!
Kim
