You're welcome. I'm glad I could help - and flattered to be mentioned in the same "breath" as Kree.

Baking powder and baking soda are two different things. You should find them both in the baking aisle of your supermarket (look for the boxed cake mixes).

If you're in the US, you're probably going to be buying Arm and Hammer Baking Soda - it's in an orange box and is good for all kinds of things, like freshening your laundry, going into the fridge to cut odors, and so on.

The best known baking powder brand in the US is probably "Calumet" - I think it comes in a small yellowish can. Right now I'm using Rumford brand baking powder. It comes in a small red can with a cameo of George Washington (I have no idea why) and a black-and-white label that reads:

RUMFORD
Premium Aluminum-Free
BAKING
POWDER

Linz handled maple syrup versus golden syrup (what is golden syrup, anyhow?). Making sorbet is way out of my league - sorry.
