I can't live without mine. The only thing I wish I could change is that the parts are not dishwasher safe. Other than that, it's great. I always have rice in the fridge. I particularly like the fact that I can just throw the rice, water, and seasonings / veggies in, switch it to cook, and take a shower, do homework, whatever, and I don't have to worry that it will burn. I have also used the steamer tray accessory to steam vegetables, and to do the Wok-Steamed Salmon recipe. My mom told me I was silly and that rice isn't hard to make in a pot, but I do like it, and I especially notice a difference in asian rice, like sushi rice. Mine was a Christmas present from Santa, but I'm sure it was only about 15 bucks or so. It's small, but I'm small and I live alone. My bf has a huge one, and also lives alone, and I think that was a mistake because he ends up with leftover rice for several weeks. I'd look on Amazon for a cheap one. Mine only has one setting, but I have a rice-cooker cook book that calls for different settings, so depending on how ambitious you are going to be, you have a lot of options. good luck. Panda
