I have an odd relationship with my mother.. first- she has crohns and some other medical issues, and is often in a lot of pain.. and meds do wierd things to her.. so she forgets things and then gets accusatory... sometimes I can let it slide, but sometimes it drives me nuts... apparently her belly is really bad right now.. found this out a few minutes ago- after I wrote the rest of what is below.... I originally posted it elsewhere, so it has some info on IBS that I know everyone here knows...
but any suggestions from you all in how to handle this would be appreciated.. normally I'd just let it go, but she's coming to visit and I don't want the stress of our physical interactiona nd her bitchign about my diet to set either or both of us off while they are visiting.

I was going to talk to her about my IBS diagnosis, but we kept playing phone tag and Bill wound up talking to my parents on the phone while I was out with Poppy and the kids Sun evening... (we were at the pool waiting for him).

Anyway he talked to her about my diagnosis a bit and mentioned my diet. She has Crohns.. She is on the CCFA's board... She announced blatently that my doctors were wrong and my diet was all wrong and she was going to email me information. Fine.. that was Sun...

Today she finally emails me and tells me to check the CCFA's site- they do research on IBS too.. NO.. their site says- we do research on IBD's and has a brief explanation of what IBS is and that it IS NOT the same thing.

Anyway- yes I can find websites that say other diets are good for IBS but the one thing they all and my doctors say is that IBS triggers vary patient to patient... The other thing is that people used to think that if you had IBS you had to do lots of whole grains and stuff, and now they are finding this is why so many people never got better because the whole grains thing tends to be a common trigger for people...

So I gave mom my spiel about IBS and what I'm doing for it and what the docs said in an email.. we'll see what her reply is... should be interesting.

meanwhile I want to reach through the webverse and throttle her for thinking the treatment for my disease is the same as hers, even though I am greatful to learn I don't have crohns, and I have done the research on my disease and she hasn't... this is the same person who a few weeks ago tried to tell me IBS wasn't a diagnosis but a symptom I must have crohsn or celiacs and be undiagnosed (they've tested me for both and a whole host of other things.)
